Statement of Intent Ngā Whainga o te Kura 

 

Curriculum Guidelines aim to  . . .  

 

• To give indications of how to foster partnership with our school communities by using consultative processes that acknowledge the cultural diversity of the community, and uphold the unique place of Tangata Whenua in Aotearoa, New Zealand. 

• Assist teachers to gain a better understanding of how to integrate Te reo Māori and Kaupapa Māori into the Waldorf Curriculum. 

• Provide guidance, information and resources on te reo Māori and kaupapa Māori. 

• Provide a context for the importance of teaching te reo Māori and integrating kaupapa Māori into teaching and learning programmes in our schools. 

• Provide practical models for teaching te reo Māori and integrating kaupapa Māori into teaching and learning programmes. 

• Show how to plan for the integration of kaupapa Māori into teaching and learning programmes. 

• Support the learning and teaching  practices which acknowledge the five principles of Tataiako: 

Ako, Whanaungatanga, Manaakitanga, Wāngatanga, Tangata Whenuatanga, Atuatanga.
